The BRAS™ Advantage

Through years of research and field tests, we have taken the micro bubble technology to a new level. The Bio Reactor Aeration System, or BRAS™ produces bubble size of 10 microns or less in a negative pressure environment. That’s over 1 billion micro bubbles per cubic foot which translates to over 1,000 square feet surface area of oxygen molecules. By producing an exponentially greater oxygen source which is more dense and long lasting in water, the volume of healthier bacteria will increase resulting in a more effective elimination of waste products and bad odors.

What sets the aerator apart is in the micro bubbles. BRAS™ introduces micro bubbles into the water without causing excessive agitation to the water through the use of low pressure air. Based on the principles of Brownian Movement, the reduced pressure environment allows the micro bubbles to be dispersed throughout the body of water. The BRAS™ Bubble generator creates a much higher lateral oxygen transfer to replenish the oxygen imperative for microbial and aquatic life.

Bubble Size Comparison

Bubble Size Comparison

Predominantly used in other aeration devices, compressed air is forced into the water, displacing the water particles and producing large bubbles that “float” immediately to the surface. With air below atmospheric pressure (low pressure air), water is made “open” for the air to go into the water. The atmospheric air becomes expanded and the PSI (Pounds per Square Inch) is lowered.  A vortex is created in the water for this low pressure air to flow in the water. When the vortex closes, the water pressure in the air will match or be equal to the water pressure. The trapped air moves throughout the body water and remains until it is used or absorbed within the water.  In other words, the micro bubbles stay resident in the water for up to an hour.

What does all this mean?  The oxygen transfer efficiency of the bubbles from a BRAS™ unit is far greater than that of other aerators.  Not only is horsepower reduced by 70%, the digestion capability of the pond or tank is dramatically increased.

What are Micro Bubbles?

What makes BRAS™ stand apart from other aeration devices is in the Micro bubbles. Micro bubbles are miniature gas bubbles of less than 50 microns diameter in water. The micro bubbles, which contain oxygen, can remain suspended in the water for an extended period. Gradually, the gas within the micro bubbles dissolves into the water and the bubbles disappear.
These micro bubbles, being of extremely small size, are characterized by having electrical charges. They attract suspended floating particles effectively. This particular property has been used in sludge treatment by using the micro bubbles to capture and float organic matters, thus decreasing the time required for the sludge treatment.  The micro bubble system will actually digest sludge off of the bottom of the pond.

Micro bubble treatment creates an aerobic environment throughout the body of water.  One of its most significant advantages is the processing time required for treatment.  Organic material that requires months to be digested in an anaerobic environment while outgassing methane can be digested from 8 hours to 4 days in a proper aerobic environment.

Wastewater Treatment

The BRAS™ aerator has been used in the winery, livestock, and food processing industries, as well as other applications around the world to elminate odors and reduce residual wastes. Faster treatment of manure and more efficient breakdown of harmful bi-products leads to a safer transition for land application or reclamation water.

Aquaculture Applications

The BRAS™ units not only treat wastewater but also can be effectively used in various aquaculture applications. Whether used in saltwater or freshwater, the BRAS™  units will guarantee the best health and production yields for your aquatic and plant life without the use of chemicals in the water.

Aerators - BRASThe negatively charged anionic particles created by the BRAS™ units stimulate the a natural environment for aquatic and plant life where it has a “vitamin”-like effect. Wounded fish become healthier and a huge increase in appetite can be seen. In plants, we see colors become more vibrant and healthy. Not only do we see an increase in yield, but our field and lab tests show reduction of pathogens such as E-coli, that plague the aquaculture market.

Advantages in Aquaculture
  • Increases yield
  • Enhances health and growth
  • Minimizes stress for aquatic life
  • Decreases mortality rate
  • Improves water quality
  • Prevents pathogen and red tide growth
  • Promotes healing
  • Supports dense aquaculture environments
